At Rawcliffe Bridge and Rawcliffe Primary School we are passionate about pupil voice and recognise the importance of an effective school parliament which represents the views of all children and supports school improvement and development. This is more than just a School Council!
The Federation Parliament helps determine the future direction and focus of both Rawcliffe and Rawcliffe Bridge Primary School and creates an important connection between pupils and staff, ensuring their voices are being acted upon.
The role of parliament provides the opportunity for students to be educated and equipped for future roles outside of education. Students will learn how they can effectively and efficiently carry out their responsibilities for the benefit of all. The role of parliament also brings out the students leadership qualities for higher responsibilities in future. Serving in the Parliament will develop greater awareness of the rights of others, and what it means to work for not just your own goals but for those of your fellow students as well.
Their main purpose will be to debate school issues and new school proposals.
Cabinet members are elected annually and are led by the Student Prime Minister and Shadow Prime Minister who will represent the school at events, offsite meetings and will regularly meet with the school leadership team.
A key part of their role is to support pupils in understanding that their opinion is of value, that their voices should be heard, and that their suggestions have merit. They help them to learn how to communicate effectively and show them how to develop skills that will remain with them throughout their lives.
