Why are explosions seen before they are heard?
Draw a diagram explaining why the volcano is seen exploding before it is heard from the boat. How far away do you think the boat is? how do you know?
Week 5: 17/04/20- 23/04/20
KLQ: How do species ensure they survive?
Linking to St George's mythical dragon, I'd like you to invent a new mythical creature. Use your knowledge of evolution and adaptation to design an animal which is well equipped to survive its habitat. Draw a detailed diagram of your animal- annotating the features and how this helps in its survival. Give it a name and describe the animal's habitat and how it evolved over time e.g. long periods of hunting at night in a dense forest meant the jaguar evolved to be incredibly agile, with large eyes, binocular vision and dark colouring for camouflage.
Week 2 27/03/20-02/04/20
KLQ: How did the Tudors tell the time?
Although mechanical clocks and watched did exist, many were too expensive to own. As a result, most of the population owned miniature sun dials or pocket sun dials to keep track of their day.
-Draw annotate and explain how a sun dial works.
-Research other ways the time could be tracked during the Tudor period.
-Have a go at making your own pocket sundial!
