This week in maths we will look at measuring a variety of things. First, we will look at measuring temperature, since its getting much warmer and nicer outside! Next, we will look at measuring mass. We will look at how scales help us find out the mass of certain objects! Finally, we will look into measuring fluids and finding out the meaning of the word capacity. Please have a look through the key vocabulary sheets first.
Lesson 1- Measuring Temperature
Today you will look at reading a THERMOMETER which is just like reading a number line. Watch the video to find out what happens to the temperature when it gets warmer or colder. Is there a THERMOMETER in your house? If so can you find out what temperature it shows?
Lesson 2- Measuring Mass
Watch the video to find out what mass is and how we can measure it. You will hear about kilograms and grams. Before you watch the video could you find out how heavy you are? You will need to pause the video when asked to do so to complete the activities and press play when you are ready to continue.
When you watched the video have a go at completing these worksheets.
Lesson 3- Reading Scales Continued
Today we will carry on practising our scale reading skills! Have a go at the worksheet below!
Lesson 4- Measuring using Millilitres
Today you will be looking at how to measure in millilitres. The person in the video is asking if you could go and fill a jug with 400 millilitres of water. If you can, please have a go and post your picture on the class Dojo :-) You will need to pause the video when asked to do so to complete the activities and press play when you are ready to continue
Once you watched the video have a go with the worksheet.
