Home learning
- Home learning will be updated by 9:00am each Monday morning with tasks for the week. These will be differentiated so that all children, can access the learning at an appropriate level. Pupils will be assigned to a particular group and will access the work of that group.
- Teachers will be accessible via DOJO for parental queries about the work set during school hours. Please be mindful that some of our teachers are educating children in school so they may not give you an immediate reply.
- Weekly activities will include: Mathletics; Readiwriter; different foundation subject focuses each week; phonics in KS1, Maths and English (Reading and Writing activities)
- Work must be uploaded to DOJO or emailed to class teacher by 4:30 pm each Friday.
- Children will be awarded DOJO points for work completed.
Our Timetable
Please find below an example timetable for you to use at home. I will edit it each week with the activities that I have set for the children. I would like to point out that this is not prescriptive it is an example, you know your children, you know what is best for your children if you feel they need to do things a different way around then do it your way :-) In school on a real day if I can see that the children need to have a break then that is what we do. We want you to enjoy this time with your children too!
Recipe of the Week!
This weeks recipe of the week is Sausage, Mushroom and tomato pasta!
Each week I will be sharing a different recipe that you can make with your family at home! I will also make it for myself and my family! Please upload a picture of your finished product and a review of your meal!

Maths
This week in maths we are going to continuing our learning about measures by looking at temperature, mass and millilitres. I have organised it into groups just like you are in class. If you can't remember what group you are in it is written on the front of your maths book in your home learning pack.
English- What language do I need to use to describe something?
Lesson 1- This morning we talked about describing a character. For today's lesson I would like you to think about a character that you want to come dressed up as for world book day to our 'Guess Who?' teams call! If you don't want to dress up or can't dress up that is fine however I would still like you to bring a description with you. To help me plan my work I used a spare piece of paper to create a mind map. I then used my mind map to help me to create sentences to describe my character. When I started to run out of things to write I could check back on my mind map to make sure I have described my character well. When you have written your description why not test it out on a family member can they guess your character from your description? If so super! If not you might need to go and add some more detail.
Can you guess my character from these examples...
Example 1- My character is a boy. He wears pyjamas. He is kind and helpful. He is happy.
Example 1- My character is a boy. He wears pyjamas. He is kind and helpful. He is happy.
Example 2- My character is a curious boy. He has ginger hair and wears pyjamas in the book. He found a beanstalk outside his window and climbed it without telling his mum! My character is friendly and helpful and does lots of jobs to help the giant including getting him a huge pair of glasses and a bright ginger wig.
Which one helped you guess it the best? The 2nd one definitely! It gave lots more detail and helped you to build a picture of my character in your mind!
Remember you don't need to upload your character description to class dojo until Thursday so that they are kept a surprise from Miss Stranaiova, Miss Frere and I - We want to be able to guess who you are too!
HOWEVER if you do need help please give us a shout and we would be happy to help you!

Lesson 2/3/4- How many different ways can I retell a story?
For the rest of this week I would like you to choose a story that you enjoy reading and retell it in a way that is different to just reading the book. Follow the link below to support you with your learning and give you some ideas. You might choose to do one way and go into detail with it or you might choose to retell it in 3 different ways the choice is yours!

Reading and Spelling
I have uploaded spellings onto Readiwriter and I have put on guided reading for you for each day. On Tuesday there is no guided reading as I would like you to spend some time doing some independent reading.
I have arranged our reading into groups depending on the spelling group you are in. In each page I have also included the spellings for your child for that week. :-)

Phonics
Phonics play have very kindly opened up their website for parents and children to access for free without the need to subscribe. This can be accessed at https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/ Username: Jan21 Password: home
I won't be planning specific phonics lessons as we are all moved on from formal phonics teaching however there are plenty of games to play on there to keep them refreshed in your heads. We have now moved onto practising using our phonics skills for reading and writing by practising our spellings on readiwriter.

Physical Education
It is important you still keep on with PE throughout the week on top or spending some time outside just like for playtime. We recommend an hour outside just like at school. (15 minutes in the morning, half an hour at lunch time and 15 minutes in the afternoon.)
Joe Wicks is putting on PE sessions on his YouTube page live at 9am every other day so why not give that a go!

Cosmic kids yoga is also a great way to get some exercise without even realising you're doing it. The stories are lots of fun and a great way to relax your brain.
