Home learning
- Home learning will be updated by 9:00am each Monday morning with tasks for the week. These will be differentiated so that all children, can access the learning at an appropriate level. Pupils will be assigned to a particular group and will access the work of that group.
- Teachers will be accessible via DOJO for parental queries about the work set during school hours. Please be mindful that some of our teachers are educating children in school so they may not give you an immediate reply.
- Weekly activities will include: Mathletics; Readiwriter; different foundation subject focuses each week; phonics in KS1, Maths and English (Reading and Writing activities)
- Work must be uploaded to DOJO or emailed to class teacher by 4:30 pm each Friday.
- Children will be awarded DOJO points for work completed.
Our Timetable
Please find below an example timetable for you to use at home. I will edit it each week with the activities that I have set for the children. I would like to point out that this is not prescriptive it is an example, you know your children, you know what is best for your children if you feel they need to do things a different way around then do it your way :-) In school on a real day if I can see that the children need to have a break then that is what we do. We want you to enjoy this time with your children too!
Recipe of the Week!
This weeks recipe of the week is Apple Doughnuts! Each week I will be sharing a different recipe that you can make with your family at home! I will also make it for myself and my family! Please upload a picture of your finished product and a review of your meal!
Maths
This week in maths we are starting our work with Multiplication and division. I have organised it into groups just like you are in class. If you can't remember what group you are in it is written on the front of your maths book in your home learning pack.
This week I have kept red and yellow group on the same activities as it is an area they all need practise on!

English- The Windmill Farmer
This week we are going to be using the video The Windmill Farmer to inform our writing. I would like you to watch the video below and whilst you are watching think about the different emotions that the windmill farmer is going through throughout the video. We are going to discuss this is our teams call on Monday.
Lesson 1- This week you are all going to become journalists, you will need to write the most interesting article you can to report on the storm and what has happened to the farmer.
Start by working on headlines. Look at support sheet below for some example headlines. Are some of them more effective than others? Why?

Using the template below I want you to start to plan your newspaper report. You might want to watch the video over several time to help you to answer each section. Some of them you might not know e.g. where did it happen so you can invent some information about your character, e.g. Mr Dales from Windy Dale Farm, hidden away in the valley.
For now I want you to focus on your headline, your summary and the questions with the 5 W's in and then tomorrows lesson we will be looking at the bottom two boxes! I am available if you need help please give me a shout! :-)

Real Example headlines
Lesson 2- Today you are going to focus on completing the 'quotations' and 'what will happen now?' sections of your plan. If possible I would like you to work with a parent on this one, (Parents-It shouldn't take very long) You will need to do some pretend play. You need to be the journalist and your parent needs to pretend to be the windmill farmer. As the journalist you are going to interview the windmill farmer and ask him some questions about the terrible storm.
Journalists you will need to think of 5 questions to ask the farmer about the storm. You can write these in your book but make sure you leave some room to write the farmers responses underneath each question. There are some example questions you could use below if you need to.
Now, use what you have found out to fill in the final two boxes. A quotation is something that the farmer has said you will need to use speech marks for this part and you need to report what he has said.

Activity 3- Welcome Journalists!
Hello and welcome journalists, we are now approaching a very crucial point in our reporting journey. The newspaper needs to go to print in only a few days so our final articles must be finished soon. Today you are going to write your newspaper articles in full. Remember to use your planning sheet and hot-seat questions and answers during their writing. I have attached below a writing check list for you to help you with the content of your report. I have also included a newspaper writing template although I recommend you write a first draft in your book first and then copy it up in neat afterwards.
Myself or your parents can be your editor so please feel free to send in your first draft and I will edit your newspaper report and send you back some feedback before you write your final copy!
Good luck Journalists!

Phonics
Phonics play have very kindly opened up their website for parents and children to access for free without the need to subscribe. This can be accessed at https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/ Username: Jan21 Password: home
I won't be planning specific phonics lessons as we are all moved on from formal phonics teaching however there are plenty of games to play on there to keep them refreshed in your heads. We have now moved onto practising using our phonics skills for reading and writing by practising our spellings on readiwriter.

Physical Education
It is important you still keep on with PE throughout the week on top or spending some time outside just like for playtime. We recommend an hour outside just like at school. (15 minutes in the morning, half an hour at lunch time and 15 minutes in the afternoon.)
Joe Wicks is putting on PE sessions on his YouTube page live at 9am every other day so why not give that a go!

Cosmic kids yoga is also a great way to get some exercise without even realising you're doing it. The stories are lots of fun and a great way to relax your brain.
